Active Server Pages

Namespace: Wiki

From Microsoft Internet Information Server Web site:

Active Server Pages is an open, compile-free application environment in which you can combine HTML, scripts, and reusable ActiveX server components to create dynamic Web-based business solutions. Active Server Pages enables Server Side Scripting for IIS with native support for both VBScript and JScript.

An ASP file is simply a text file with an ASP extension that can contain any combination of HTML, scripting, and calls to components. It works by means of the underlying ASP.DLL that interprets your ASP file at runtime giving you dynamic web-pages.
