"Round trip engineering" is the term given to a process that begins with a model, the model is implemented, and thereafter the model is updated automatically from the implementation. In essence, this:
- Create a model
- Generate code
- Work in the code
- Update the model from the code.
Beyond this straightforward cycle, round trip engineering also allows working on the model and the implementation at the same time. Changes are later merged in a complete round trip to update both sides of the equation.
