Semantics: The study of meanings (Webster's Ninth New Collegiate Dictionary)
Often in technical discussions the words used will become critically important to the interpretation of the meaning of a statement. In technical fields there are standard terminologies that are generally accepted and well documented. It should be the goal of everyone writing technical papers and Wiki pages to use the generally accepted terminology as much as is possible in order to reduce the confusion factor for those trying to learn.
When one writes a paper or Wiki page and gets corrected on use of terminology, it is best to research the correction and adopt the suggested term if the suggested term carries the same meaning. This will generally move us all to using the same set of terms and it will foster more clear and less verbose communication.
The concepts can be confusing in themselves, it is not helpfull to add to that confusion with a mixture of differing terminologies.
