Silver Bullet Syndrome is excessive reliance on a single development improvement to put a development project over the top.
It's a reference to the Lone Ranger's one-shot problem solving.
More generally, silver-bullet syndrome is the projection of a multivariate problem onto a single (typically novel) axis, with insufficient factoring of other dimensions of the problem.
