Namespace: Wiki

Southwest Fox is:

The newest developer conference dedicated to Visual FoxPro!
We want to provide practical techniques and best practices for all skill levels that can be applied to the problems and challenges in developing applications today. Sessions will give a better understanding of OOP; upgrading existing VFP skills; address the latest changes and innovations in VFP; knowledge of additional tools such as SQL Server, API’s and .NET; business advice; taking your application to market; and “nuts and bolts” sessions that you can use today. You will also have the opportunity to mix, blend, come together, mingle, join, unite, socialize, circulate, associate and altogether rub elbows with the top speakers and recognized vendors in our industry. Please join us for what we are certain will be a valuable and entertaining conference.

There is lots of news at Southwest Fox this week!

The conference schedule has been posted and is available for dowload.

The latest information and links have been posted for both F1 Indoor Kart Racing and the Sedona/Grand Canyon tour.

VSoft Technologies and Rick Borup, Information Technology Associates, have donated a copy of "FinalBuilder 4 Professional Named User" for us to give away at the conference. The retail value of this prize is $499.

Fred Taylor (BBMS, Inc, Phoenix native, long time VFP MVP, helicopter pilot, etc) has pledged a Visual Studio 2005 Team Suite with MSDN Premium Subscription (Retail Price $10,939).

Can it get any better? Maybe...

There is still plenty of time to register and the Fiesta Inn still has rooms available. Don't miss what is certain to be a great VFP weekend.

Southwest Fox 2006
Work has all ready begun on Southwest Fox 2006, October 19 – 22, 2006. I'm sorry to say there were a number of issues with ASU and their vendors we weren't able to resolve so, it's time to move on. The good news is, Southwest Fox has found a new home.

They have excellent facilities designed with specifically with conferences in mind and a wonderful atmosphere I think everyone will enjoy.

Working with members of the Spanish speaking FoxPro community, I'm excited to announce Southwest Fox 2006 will feature sessions presented in Spanish. This a great opportunity to open the door to another sector of the FoxPro community and we will all benefit from their participation.

We are also working on a number of other additions and improvements for 2006. As always, details and all the latest news are on the website (www.swfox.net)

My thanks to everyone for Southwest Fox 2005
After a year of planning, Southwest Fox 2005 flew by in what seemed like the blink of an eye. It is an experience unique to the FoxPro community to spend most of four days learning and sharing with friends both old and new. I hope everyone enjoyed themselves half as much as I did. My most sincere thanks to everyone who participated at every level. Without all of you, I'd look pretty foolish standing in the middle of the Arizona Ballroom all by myself.

The final figures have been tallied and attendance was up a full 15% this year over last. We are working on some new things for next year (before, during and after the conference) and, with a little luck, the numbers will be up again next year. Sharon has diligently compiled a list of things I screwed up this year, so we will also be better next year. And I, for one, can't wait to get started.

As soon as I have confirmed dates and location, I will pass them along.

Hope to see you next year,

Bob Kocher
