I ran across this interesting graphic from The McKinsey Quarterly which maps the % share of contribution to a % of users responsible for the given share in user-content websites.
Experience with the Fox Wiki, and hosting other public and private wikis, seems to indicate that the value for Wikipedia appears correct. Note that Wikis used in intranets have, in my experience, a much higher participation rate, up to 100% of the content coming from 75% of users within small teams. -- Steven Black
